Learn the Foundations of Stunning Dog Portraits
Saturday 11th April, 845-12am approx
This photography workshop will cover the main elements of photography including aperture, shutter speed, ISO - as these relate specifically to photographing your dog. A slideshow + discussion will show how these elements affect an image, so you understand the how & the why. Then, we will hit the beach and practice with our pups in tow! Ideally, you will come with a second (non-paying) person to keep your pet safe while you are learning. Digital camera required.
You will learn the following skills:
- How to create an emotional connection in your portraits
- How to understand dog behaviour & read canine body language
- How to capture your dog at full sprint, jumping etc
- Best lighting techniques for white or dark coloured dogs
- How to take dog portraits just like a professional portrait photographer

Dogs in Action
Learning shutter speed to capture fast action, and make cool 'blurry' action images by panning or simple slow shutter to create atmosphere. Practice makes perfect! We will spend at least 30 minutes playing with this fun activity.
Dog Portraits
We all love our dogs deeply. Taking a portrait that captures their personality is a wonderful thing. Whether they are at home or out in nature, we will learn about perspective/angles, using aperture to accentuate your pet's features and some tips for catching their attention without 'give-me-a-treat face' so you achieve a natural expression.
Tricks of the Trade
You'll be surprised to hear the nuggets that help me get funny, natural and impactful pictures of the dogs I photograph. Hint: It's all about being yourself and having fun.
